We all desire to build a stronger and fulfilling relationship with Jesus and with these six tips you will be confident in how to make time for our Heavenly Father.
Embracing a New Routine
For me waking up early and spending time with God works great for me. I am able to read my Word and I do not feel the rush to start the day. It took a long time and even now sometimes it is hard to wake up early when I just want to go back to sleep but I know that the time I get with God in the morning is worth more than an additional hour or so of sleep.
You need to find the time that works best for you and you know more than anybody what will work best for you. Do not feel bad if you go through a couple of different times, you have to find the time that works best for you.
God is not just there in your home. He is with you wherever you go and every step of the way along your journey of life. So as you go through your day talk to Him. He wants to be in communication with you genuinely and loves to hear from you. God is the one person that will not judge you or make you feel like you have to wear a mask to converse with Him. No, you literally can be your raw authentic self with no guards or walls up. So do not limit the opportunities to speak to God.
Remove the Old
So are there people, places, and things that you are creating as idols? For me, it was social media and television. Every day I would come home and watch t.v., YouTube, and go on social media and before I knew it, the time was 10:00 p.m. and it was basically time for me to go to sleep.
God showed me that I was creating these things as idols over Him. And your idol could literally be anything that you are putting above God, whether you know it or not. So I would personally recommend to look at everything you are doing in a day or week and see what is taking up most of your time that you could be giving that time to God.
Make God a Priority
This is self-explanatory but a lot of us say we will do it but then life happens and before we know it, we are not even close to accomplishing this. God needs to be more important than anything you have or are doing in life because God is the creator of all, and whatever you are striving to achieve in life; you have to go through God to receive it so why not give God all of your attention instead of things that are temporary compared to the living God.
Grow Your Knowledge
Whether it is classes, study plans, etc. Try to incorporate opportunities to advance your biblical knowledge. Don’t just read the Bible and never attempt to truly understand what God is saying and what He could be telling you through the passage. Make time to pray and really dig deep into the Word and watch what God reveals to you.
Allow God in
None of the previous five tips mean nothing if you are not willing to allow God to come into your life. You need to pray and surrender your life to Him and accept the process and direction that God is leading you on. Be willing to let people, places, things, ego, and dreams go for God’s will to manifest in your life.
